Poland decided to terminate the intergovernmental gas agreement with the Russian Federation, signed back in 1993. Piotr Naimsky, representative of the country's government for strategic energy infrastructure, told Polskie Radio about this. Prior to this, the Polish authorities stated that they would finally get rid of Russian gas before the end of this year.
The information was also confirmed by Anna Moskwa, head of the Polish Ministry of Climate and Environment.
"Poland is denouncing the 1993 intergovernmental gas agreement on Yamal. We have always known that Gazprom is not a reliable partner," she stressed.
Context. Recall: last week, the Polish PGNiG filed a lawsuit requiring that Gazprom and Gazprom Export pay interest on a $1.5 billion overpayment for supplies in 2014-2020.
