Andriy Matyukha, Favbet Foundation: "The Superheroes Club creates new opportunities for Ukrainian children"

Education, sports, and technology — it is precisely at the intersection of these fields that the "Superheroes Club" from Favbet Foundation was born. The initiative, launched with the support of the foundation’s president, Andriy Matyukha, covers hundreds of children who, thanks to participation in the project, receive a chance to develop, gain new knowledge, and strengthen their bodies and characters.

The project consists of three main directions: "Stronger Together," "Strength in Knowledge," and "IT Kids," and each of them addresses an important task — giving Ukrainian children tools to create a better future for themselves and for the whole country.

"Stronger Together»: Free sports for children of military personnel and displaced persons

The first direction of the initiative is the support of physical development for children from families of servicemen and IDPs. Within the project, Favbet Foundation funds a number of free sports sections in Kyiv. Thus, based on the "Sport for All" Center for Physical Health, football and basketball sections are open, and martial arts classes are held at the SpartaBox fighting club.

In 2024, the foundation and SpartaBox opened a combat sambo section in addition to free boxing and freestyle wrestling classes. Classes here are held three times a week and are designed for children aged 8 to 13. The coaches are Serhiy Bobyr and Renat Akhmedkhanov, masters of sports and champions with many years of experience in training young athletes.

Quote"Our classes are completely free for IDP families and children of servicemen. We believe that strength is born from support. Therefore, we want children affected by the war to have as many opportunities as possible to realize their sports and educational talents," say Favbet Foundation representatives.

"Strength in Knowledge»: Everything needed for learning

"Strength in Knowledge" is a special project within which the Favbet Foundation team handed over more than 5,500 stationery kits to children of IDPs and servicemen on the eve of the school year.

The large set contained everything that younger students might need for studying and creativity — from notebooks and pens to paints and other stationery. Within just one month, thousands of schoolchildren from all regions of Ukraine received the kits.

"IT Kids": A start in the world of digital professions.

The youngest but extremely relevant direction is "IT Kids", created in partnership with Code Club Ukraine. Within it, schoolchildren undergo free training in programming basics, acquiring skills in logical thinking, teamwork, and a creative approach.

Since the direction's existence, Favbet Foundation has launched two major educational programs. The first is the "New Python" course, which introduces children to the basics of programming in a popular language and provides fundamental knowledge for further development in the technological sphere. More than 300 children completed this course, 156 of them — from the families of servicemen and internally displaced Ukrainians.

In 2024, shortly after the completion of the first program, Favbet Foundation and Code Club Ukraine launched a course in Scratch, where children can create their own interactive games, cartoons, and other projects.

The demand for education is very high — more than 600 children enrolled in the new course, studying in 63 online and offline groups in Dnipro, Ivano-Frankivsk, Kropyvnytskyi, Kryvyi Rih, Lviv, Donetsk region, Odesa, Poltava, and Cherkasy. Almost a third of the students are children from the families of servicemen and IDPs.

At Favbet Foundation, they say that the Scratch course is designed to give future IT specialists an understanding of IT technologies and to spark interest in technological professions.

The course consists of three levels, which consider the age and preparation of students: Scratch-beginner, Scratch-basic, and Scratch-advanced. Group classes are held once a week and last 40 minutes — enough to learn something new but not overload the child.
