Saboteurs blew up two jets and a helicopter in the Moscow Oblast, says Defense Intelligence. The news was reported by Defense Intelligence of Ukraine.
"The investigative group of the Russian Federation is investigating the sabotage at the Chkalovsky airfield, as a result two planes and one helicopter were significantly damaged on September 18, 2023," the message says.
Government planes, so-called "doomsday planes", and special reconnaissance planes are based at the airfield.
According to Ukrainian intelligence, the saboteurs planted explosives on the heavily guarded airfield. Two planes, AN-148 and IL-20, and a Mi-28N helicopter later detonated. The Russians extensively used the helicopter to shoot down drones over the Moscow Oblast.
According to Defense Intelligence, the aircraft suffered serious damage and the Russians won’t be able to quickly repair them. The tail part of the helicopter was damaged by the explosion, and the AN-148 suffered "light" damage.
