The most environmentally pristine industrial city at the end of 2020 turned out to be Horishni Plavni in the Poltava region. This is stated in the report on the state of environmental pollution on the territory of Ukraine from the Borys Sreznevskyi Central Geophysical Observatory. It analyzed 39 largest industrial cities of the country.
Thus, Horishni Plavni took first place with an indicator of 1.9 (it takes into account the air pollution rate in accordance with five priority pollutants).

This is due to the average annual decrease in the content of formaldehyde, phenol, and hydrogen fluoride, as well as due to a decrease in industrial production during the coronavirus pandemic.
Borys Sreznevskyi Central Geophysical Observatory Research Central Geophysical Observatory conducted research in 39 cities at 129 stationary posts of the monitoring network of hydrometeorological organizations. In the atmospheric air, the content of 22 pollutants was identified, including eight heavy metals.
Context. In the fall of 2002, Kyiv was in second place in the world ranking of air pollution.
