If Belarus allows Russia to use its territory to attack Ukraine, the United States and its allies will react toughly to these actions from Minsk.
"Just as we made it clear to Russia that it would pay dearly for a ‘possible invasion’, in recent days we have also made it clear to Belarus that if it allows to use its territory for attacking Ukraine, this will be met with a quick and tough response from United States and our allies," Ned Price, the Spokesperson for the U.S. Department of State, told reporters.
He added that "if the attack of Russian troops begins from the territory of Belarus, NATO countries will have to reconsider their presence and military assets in countries that border it."
Context. Earlier, the Department of State suggested that Moscow could use joint Russian-Belarusian military exercises to invade Ukraine. The Department emphasized that this time more troops from the Russian Federation arrived for the maneuvers than usual.
Moreover, Washington was alarmed by the draft constitutional reform in Belarus that would allow the deployment of Russian nuclear weapons on the territory of this country.
