Russia seeks to prove that it’s stronger than we all
According to Zelenskyy, Russia’s war against Ukraine is not simply an attempt to seize Ukrainian land, destroy the state institutions, and break Ukraine’s independence. It’s a confrontation of outlooks.

He added that all the crises that Russia created — the food, energy, migration, and other crises — are a test of outlook and ideology.
How Russia destroys education in Ukraine
According to Zelenskyy, Russia is destroying the whole environment of everything that is valuable to us. During the four months of the full-scale war, 2,102 educational establishments have been destroyed. These were schools, universities, and kindergartens.

He added that the education system has just begun to recover from the COVID pandemic recently. The children have just come back to the educational environment to learn and socialize. But then Russia came, and with its strikes it wants to say that Ukraine is not going to have this environment at all.
Destruction of hospitals or an opportunity for a civilization
Starting from February 24, 2022, Russia has destroyed 799 facilities of medical infrastructure. The President says that this is a deliberate tactic adopted by Russia.

Destruction of houses — a purely military tactic
According to Zelenskyy, the destruction of residential areas by the Russian army and the constant missile terror are also a purely military tactic.

He added that, because of Russia’s war against Ukraine, over 12 million people have been displaced. However, it’s unknown how many of them will come back and find the feeling of home, if ever they will have a place to return to.
Zelenskyy said that almost 80 thousand objects had been destroyed.

He added that by this aggression Russia seeks to prove that it dominated not only territory, but life itself, and that it can decide for everyone whether they will have a life at all.
Therefore it’s not simply a war in the East of Europe. It’s Russia’s attack against everything that we hold dear. Therefore the reconstruction of Ukraine is not a local project of one nation, but a common task.
Restoration of Ukraine — a common task of the democratic world
According to Zelenskyy, the reconstruction of Ukraine implies large-scale construction, immense funding, and colossal investments. It implies an absolutely new level of security in all of the country, which will have to continue living next to Russia.

The President added that the reconstruction of Ukraine is not a local project, not a project of one nation, but a common task of the democratic world, of all the countries that can say that they are civilized.
Zelenskyy said that in spring 2022 Ukraine started proposing its partners to join the project of recovery. It was apparent back then that it would be the largest project of our time, an economic, technological, social project, and a project of outlook. The President thanked the countries that have responded to the proposal to take patronage over regions, cities, or industries affected by the war.

He thinks that it will be an opportunity to create millions of new connections in the democratic world, in Europe, between our countries. Every city, every community, and every restored industry will have historical evidence of who helped them.
Context. The Ukraine Recovery Conference is being held on July 4-5 in Lugano, Switzerland. During it, over 20 international organizations and 40 countries will discuss ways to help Ukraine recover after the war.
