Russia changes tactics in war to induce Ukraine to negotiate — OP

Russia is attacking civilian cities with missiles, trying to intimidate people and induce the Ukrainian authorities to negotiate or make territorial concessions, Mykhailo Podolyak, Adviser to the Head of the Presidential Office, believes.

"Russia has changed tactics. It is now attacking our cities with more powerful cruise missiles. Why? In military terms, as it turned out, they don’t know how to fight very well," Ukrainska Pravda quotes Podolyak as saying.

The Russians have shifted to the concept of war, where they want to create large-scale panic in Ukraine, intimidate people and force them to put pressure on the government so that we make some concessions to Russia. So what are the current tactics?

On the one hand, they do not take into account at all how the world reacts to these inhuman cruise missile attacks on residential areas. They force our people to put pressure on the government to say "let's make some territorial concessions."

On the other hand, the Russians are investing in their pro-Russian lobby in the political markets of other countries so that they also say: "Let's end the war somehow."

Podolyak assures that Russia's new tactic — to force Ukraine to the negotiating table — will not work.

He also notes that because of these attacks, Ukraine needs not only air defense, but also a missile defense system, and this is "key to break Russia's new concept of war."
