If Russia attacks Ukraine will mobilize up to 2.5 million of its citizens—Danilov

If Russia invades, Ukraine is able to quickly and drastically increase the numerical strength of the army by mobilizing 2.5 million people. Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Oleksiy Danilov stated this in an interview with AP.

He added that up to 420,000 Ukrainian citizens gained combat experience during the war in Donbas, and about a million more Ukrainians have hunting licenses.

Danilov stressed that at the moment the Russian Federation has concentrated about 120,000 troops near the Ukrainian border and is ready to attack "at any moment." Meanwhile, according to him, the preparation for a full-scale invasion takes time (3-7 days) and it will be impossible to carry it out unnoticed by the entire world.

We can’t allow panic in the country. It’s very difficult for us to maintain control over the economic situation when all the media keep saying that the war will start tomorrow. Panic is a sister of defeat.

Context. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated last week that the panic over the alleged Russian invasion had cost Ukraine dearly and now the country needs about $4-$5 billion from international creditors to stabilize the situation.
