Putin refused to talk to Zelenskyy about Donbas

Russia welcomed the initiative of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to meet with Head of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, but the dialogue should only be carried out on issues of bilateral relations.

This was stated by Putin’s Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov, reports the agency Interfax-Ukraine.

Quote"Such a dialogue can only relate to the problems of bilateral relations. That is, this dialogue cannot be carried out on the basis of the goals of seeking a settlement in southeastern Ukraine," Peskov said, adding that Moscow is not a party to this "conflict" and that in order to settle it, it is necessary to implement the provisions of the Minsk package of measures and establish a direct dialogue with representatives of the terrorist organizations DPR and LPR prohibited in Ukraine.

Peskov also added that the willingness to talk is always welcome and said that the Deputy Head of the Administration of the President Dmitry Kozak is in constant contact with the Office of the President of Ukraine.

Context. Earlier, Zelenskyy called on Putin to meet with him on the territory of Donbas, but the latter said that he was ready to meet, but in Moscow and solely to discuss the relationship between the two countries. Later, the President of Ukraine instructed the Head of the Office of the President, Andriy Yermak, to arrange a possible meeting with Putin.
