International Legion: Seventy citizens of Japan volunteer to fight for Ukraine

70 citizens of Japan, including 50 former members of the Self-Defense Forces of the country and two veterans of the French Foreign Legion, expressed their willingness to go to Ukraine as volunteers. This was reported by Reuters, according to Ukrinform.

A spokesperson for the Ukrainian Embassy reported he received phone calls from people who "were willing to fight for Ukraine," but declined to provide details.

In particular, 39-year-old office clerk Keichi Kurogi wanted to come to Ukraine to join the International Legion of Territorial Defense. However, the Embassy rejected Kuroga's offer to fight, stating that he lacked the necessary military experience.

Quote"When I saw pictures of elderly men and women in Ukraine clutching their weapons and heading off to the front, I felt like I had to be there for them," Kurogi said.

Context. The International Legion of Territorial Defense is being created in Ukraine. It consists of foreigners who want to join the resistance to Russian aggressors and protect world security.
