Coronavirus Delta: comparison of the vaccines efficacy against a new strain

The formulators of the vaccines against coronavirus Johnson & Johnson, Moderna, AstraZeneca, and Pfizer-BioNTech have announced the effectiveness of their drugs against the Delta strain.

For instance, the American company Johnson & Johnson stated that its single-component vaccine is also effective against the Indian delta strain of coronavirus.

According to Interfax-Ukraine, the company reported in this statement that its drug causes a strong and persistent immune response to the strain and other varieties of COVID-19 that are widespread. Johnson & Johnson says the vaccine provides protection against these strains for at least eight months.

Moderna efficacy against Delta strain

Moderna has also announced the effectiveness of its vaccine against the coronavirus strain Delta. This is stated in the company’s press release.

Quote"Moderna's COVID-19 vaccine produces neutralizing antibody titers against all variants, including the delta variant," the company stated, adding that there was only a slight decrease in neutralizing titers in respect to this variant.

AstraZeneca efficacy against Delta strain

Earlier, the AstraZeneca company also announced the efficacy of the vaccine against the Delta and Kappa varieties of coronavirus, Reuters reports. For instance, they stated that according to the Oxford University test results, the vaccine produces the corresponding antibodies in the blood.

At the same time, according to the United Kingdom National Health Service, the vaccine prevents infection with the strain in more than 90% of cases.

Pfizer-BioNTech efficacy against Delta strain

Pfizer-BioNTech also announced the efficacy of their drug against the strain. According to Reuters, the company's representative in Israel, Alon Rappaport, said that the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine is almost 90% effective.

Quote"The data we have to date comes from research carried out in the laboratory and includes information from places where the Indian Delta variant has already supplanted the British strain as the most widespread. The data indicates that our vaccine is very effective, almost 90% effective, in preventing the coronavirus disease COVID-19," he said.

At the same time, according to the UK National Health Service, the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine prevents infection with the strain in more than 90% of cases.
