Ukraine may temporarily ban the entry from countries where a more dangerous and deadly Delta strain of coronavirus was identified. This was announced by the Office of the President of Ukraine (OPU).
In particular, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Health of Ukraine were instructed to prepare proposals on the advisability of restricting entry from countries where the delta strain of coronavirus was recorded.
Also, the OPU, with reference to the report of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, stated that the Delta strain is 1.6 times more contagious than the Alpha strain. A new type of coronavirus is 2.3 times more likely to cause hospitalization of patients.
Context. The delta strain of coronavirus has now been recorded in 92 states. This is a much more potent and deadly variant of the infection that, according to the WHO, is rapidly replacing older, more "traditional" alpha strains of the coronavirus around the world.
