The small industrial front-line city of Avdiivka in the Donetsk region was shelled with artillery throughout the night. The citizens called this shelling one of the heaviest since 2014.
"People from Avdiivka text me: "One of the most terrible shelling of the city since 2014 is happening now." There is hell in Avdiivka. The city is simply being shattered," said Musa Magomedov, former director of the Avdiivka Coke Plant and MP.
According to him, the settlement of Khimik and the old part of the city were shelled. As a result of the invaders’ actions, a lot of destruction was recorded in the residential sector, fires broke out in the city. Magomedov added that, given the incessant shelling, the rescuers had no opportunity to extinguish the fire.
Pavlo Kyrylenko, head of the Donetsk Regional Military Administration, specified that over the past night the invaders had damaged at least 20 residential buildings and a kindergarten. According to him, it is now known that three were at least injured. He urged citizens not to hesitate and evacuate to safe territories as soon as possible.
