The land market began to operate on July 1, and as of the beginning of February, more than 89,800 transactions for the sale of land have already been registered. Most agreements were signed in Kharkiv, Kyiv, and Poltava regions, the press service of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food reports.
In terms of land area, Kharkiv region is ahead of all others, where 33,096.2 hectares were purchased. Next come:
- Kirovohrad region—21,352.7 ha;
- Dnipropetrovsk region—20,303.2 ha;
- Kherson region—18,483.7 ha.
Notaries submitted more than 6,100 applications to gain access to the StateGeoCadastre (State Service of Ukraine for Geodesy, Cartography and Cadastre) to verify land buyers, sellers, and the legality of transactions. Of these, more than 5,400 applications were approved, 1 application is under consideration, and 697 applicants were denied access. 5,452 notaries have been entered into the register for access to the StateGeoCadastre.
Context. On July 1, 2021, Law No. 552 came into force, allowing citizens to freely sell and buy agricultural land. Until January 2024, agricultural land can only be purchased by individuals—citizens of Ukraine. The maximum size of a land plot that can be purchased by one person is 100 hectares.
