The United States has allocated $200 million to Ukraine for additional weapons and equipment, Secretary of State Antony Blinken reported.
"I have authorized a drawdown of up to $200 million for additional arms and equipment to Ukraine. This unprecedented fourth drawdown in less than a year will bring total U.S. security assistance provided to Ukraine to more than $1.2 billion since January 2021," Blinken tweeted.
Earlier Saturday, March 13, U.S. President Joe Biden authorized additional security assistance, according to the White House, paving the way for the "immediate" shipment of military equipment to Ukraine, a senior administration official said. This was reported by Reuters.
Recall that the Biden administration, together with European allies, is drafting a plan to expedite the sending of more advanced air defense systems and other weapons to Ukraine, according to The Washington Post.
