According to the data available to the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC), Ukraine is now in the middle of an epidemic. Peak incidence rates in the country should be expected at the end of this month—early next month, said NSDC Secretary Oleksiy Danylov.
According to him, the Ukrainian health care system has prepared for this and currently has 80,000 beds for hospitalization of patients with COVID-19.
"We believe that the total number of patients who occupy these beds by that time will be at the level of 50,000-55,000. This is quite a heavy burden," Danylov added.
Context. In September, the Chief Sanitary Doctor of Ukraine, Ihor Kuzin, said that the peak incidence of coronavirus in Ukraine could occur in October, while in previous forecasts it was November. He added that only mass vaccinations can save the situation.
According to statistics, more than 98% of people hospitalized with coronavirus in Ukraine over the past three months are unvaccinated.
In general, 36 billion UAH is provided for the fight against coronavirus in Ukraine in 2021. According to the Ministry of Finance, since the beginning of the year, more than 30 billion UAH have been spent from the total amount.
