In July of this year, the Cabinet of Ministers decided that a certificate of vaccination against coronavirus, both Ukrainian and foreign ("covid certificate"), will be valid for 180 days from the date of being vaccinated with the second dose. Its owners wonder what will happen to this document when it expires.
According to the Рead of the National Technical Group of Experts on Immunoprophylaxis at the Ministry of Health Fedir Lapii, it will be possible to obtain a new certificate in the application Diia.
"There will be an option to generate a new certificate. There is already a solution," he wrote in the Facebook public "COVID-19 in Ukraine: Analysis of Statistical Data".
He did not answer what to do with the hard copy. Also, Lapii did not elaborate on the questions about the potential booster shot.
Additionally. Scientists and researchers from different countries are continuously conducting research on the duration of the vaccine effectiveness, including against various variants of the coronavirus. As new data becomes available, the recommendations and decisions of governments will change.
For instance, Chinese scientists came to the conclusion the other day that the third dose of the CoronaVac vaccine increases the activity of antibodies against the Delta variant of the coronavirus.
Context. On July 2, the Cabinet of Ministers adopted a resolution on introducing COVID certificates in Ukraine. They will confirm a citizen's vaccination status, a negative PCR test result, and a status if a person has recovered from COVID-19. The electronic document is being drafted taking into account international requirements—EU Digital COVID Certificate of the European Commission.
