Ukraine receives first 2 million doses of Moderna vaccine through COVAX

On July 18, 2,000,040 doses of the Moderna coronavirus vaccine arrived in Ukraine. It was provided by the United States government as part of the global equitable access vaccine initiative COVAX.

This was reported by the UNICEF office.

The vaccine will be used by mobile teams that will vaccinate organized collectives and professional groups, according to the Ministry of Health.

The storage of the vaccine in compliance with the cold chain in Ukraine is provided by the United States Agency for International Development USAID.

The Moderna vaccine has not yet been registered in Ukraine. To register a drug, its manufacturer must appeal to the state regulator with a corresponding application.

The Ministry of Health reported that they are negotiating with the manufacturer to register the vaccine. So far, the Ministry has decided to allow vaccination with this drug, as Moderna has been approved for emergency use by US and European regulators, as well as by WHO.
