As a result of the analysis of the ship construction in Ukraine, the state concern Ukroboronprom presented a new strategy for shipbuilding in the country until 2030. The concern reported that now the navy has 18 vessels, Ukrinform reports.
Also Ukroboronprom concluded that for the civilian fleet development by the end of the decade, it is necessary to build 240 new ships. This will increase the volume of freight traffic on the country's inland waterways by the specified date to 30 million tons per year. In addition, this plan implementation will create 7,500 new jobs. In general, this will replenish the budget by almost 16.5 UAH million annually.
Additionally. Earlier, the National Security Council (NSDC) decided to build patrol and artillery boats, corvettes, and a frigate until 2031.
Context. In the August interview, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced the materialization of a large Ukrainian fleet by 2035. According to him, by that year it will have "corvettes, military boats, and small submarines", as well as military bases.
