The State Duma of the aggressor country of the Russian Federation passed at a meeting a resolution on the immediate handing the President of the Russian Federation the Duma’s appeal regarding the need to recognize the self-proclaimed "Donetsk and Luhansk People's Republics'' (the so-called "DNR" and "LNR"). This is reported by Interfax-Ukraine.
The corresponding decision was made by way of ranked-choice voting.
The document submitted by the MPs from the faction United Russia that initially provides for consultations with the Russian Foreign Ministry was considered together with a draft resolution from the faction Communist Party of the Russian Federation. It provides for the State Duma’s immediate appeal to the President of the Russian Federation with a request to recognize the independence of the so-called self-proclaimed "DNR" and "LNR". The project of the communists got the most votes—351, and the initiative of the parliamentary majority faction—310.
Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba stresses that if a decision on recognition is made, Russia will de facto and de jure withdraw from the Minsk agreements with all the collateral consequences. Ukraine has already warned its partners about this position.
