Ukraine’s Ministry of Defense and Turkish BAYKAR MAKINA made an agreement to build a service center for drone repair and maintenance in Ukraine.
The agreement was announced by the ministry’s press service.
According to the announcement, the agreements have been reached as part of the Framework Agreement between Ukraine and Turkey on Cooperation in the Field of High Technologies, Aviation, and Space. This will significantly reinforce cooperation between the countries in the field of defense, the ministry added.
According to Kostiantyn Vashchenko, State Secretary of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, the joint project will lay the groundwork for systemic cooperation and create jobs in Ukraine. The ministry will also focus on boosting the capabilities for the repair of other military equipment.
"This applies not only to drones. This also applies to heavy armored vehicles and other combat equipment. We understand that we need to develop our own infrastructure, create jobs, and teach our own personnel so that we can be as effective as possible and use our existing resources to maintain our national defense capability at the proper level even after our victory," said Kostiantyn Vashchenko.
Earlier, Baykar started to build a factory to produce Bayraktar drones in Ukraine.
