The Cabinet of Ministers approved a decree on the development of Crimean Tatar orthography using the alphabet based on the Latin script, according to the press service of the Ministry of Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories of Ukraine.
The new orthography will be developed by the State Service for Ethnic Policy and Freedom of Conscience and the Ministry of Education and Science. This research will be carried out with the participation of the O.O. Potebnya Institute of Linguistics of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, and the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar People.
"The use of the Latin alphabet will facilitate the learning of the Crimean Tatar language by both ethnic Crimean Tatars and everyone else," the message says.
