The invaders shelled the port infrastructure facilities that were involved in the Grain Initiative. The July 19 overnight shelling of Odesa also targeted grain terminals in the ports of Odesa and Chornomorsk. 60,000 tons of grain, which should have been sent through the grain corridor 60 days ago, were destroyed. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine.
"The grain infrastructure used by international and Ukrainian traders and carriers such as Kernel, Viterra, and CMA CGM Group was the most affected. This is a terrorist act not against Ukraine but against the whole world, whose food security is once again endangered. Humanity is being held hostage by a terrorist country that is blackmailing the whole world with hunger," said Minister of Agrarian Policy Mykola Solskyi.
He emphasized that if Ukraine wouldn’t be able to export food, people in the world’s poorest countries would be put on the brink of survival, and the global economy would suffer. Experts estimate that the damaged facilities will need at least one year to be fully restored.
