The International Monetary Fund reopened its Kyiv representative office, which had been closed since the full-scale Russian invasion. Kristalina Georgieva, Managing Director of the IMF, made the announcement.
"I am delighted to announce the reopening of the IMF Resident Representative Office in Kyiv as we further deepen our engagement with Ukraine," she posted on Х (formerly Twitter).
Georgieva posted a picture with representatives of the IMF, the National Bank of Ukraine, and the Ministry of Finance.
On September 25, an IMF mission started technical discussions with the
Ukrainian authorities on fiscal, financial, and other measures to prepare for the second review of the IMF Extended Fund Facility (EFF) Arrangement.
On October 1, the IMF team started meetings in Kyiv with the Ukrainian authorities. The missions had previously worked online or from Vienna since the start of the full-fledged war.
