In the case that a collapse of the medical system occurs in Kyiv, a state of emergency may be introduced in the capital.
This was stated by the mayor of Kyiv Vitali Klitschko on the air of the TV channel Ukraine 24.
«We have come very close to a situation where we may have a collapse of the medical system. If the figures go off scale now and the medical system collapses, we will have no choice but to turn to a state of emergency. But I would like to remind everyone: the state of emergency is declared by the government’s decision».

Context. Due to the rapid spread of coronavirus in Kyiv, a strict lockdown has been introduced since April 5. It will last at least until the 16th of this month. Thus, since Monday, the work of kindergartens and schools has been banned, and ground public transport and the metro will carry passengers with special passes. However, due to the latter, on the first day of the lockdown, a traffic collapse occurred on the roads of the capital.
