Prosus, a global consumer Internet group, is selling its stake in Russian classifieds service Avito. Prosus informed about this in its statement. The company has already started looking for a buyer for Avito shares.
In addition to Avito, the Dutch Prosus (the holding Naspers) has a business in Ukraine and Poland. This refers to the ad platform OLX. On March 25, 2022 the company announced Avito’s withdrawal from the OLX group. Following the completion of the relevant operating split, Prosus decided to go out of the Russian business completely.
Context. In March 2022, Avito was mainly closed for foreign traffic. However, if you visit the site using the IP of Russia and some European countries, you could find vacancies for military contract service there. At that time there were offers for the Russian military for the directions of Mariupol and Chernihiv. A salary of up to 300,000 rubles was offered.
According to earlier reports, McDonald's started selling its Russian business.
