The National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) classifies at least 13 people as oligarchs. Now the NSDC, the Antimonopoly Committee and the Office of the President are drafting a law on oligarchs.
Oligarchs have a great impact on the economy and on domestic and foreign policy processes. This was stated by the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Oleksiy Danilov during his speech at the all-Ukrainian forum "Ukraine 30. Country’s Security".
At the same time, Danilov did not specify who exactly was included in such a list of oligarchs. However, he noted that according to the NSDC criteria, at least 13 people can be confidently classified as oligarchs.
According to Serhiy Leshchenko, the following people can be recognized as oligarchs:
- Rinat Akhmetov
- Petro Poroshenko
- Dmytro Firtash
- Ihor Kolomoisky
- Viktor Pinchuk
- Serhiy Lyovochkin
- Viktor Medvedchuk
- Vadym Novynskyi
- Yuriy Kosiuk
- Oleg Bakhmatyuk
- Kostyantyn Zhevago
- Oleksandr and Halyna Hereha
Context. In April, Zelenskyy suggested that the NSDC and the Office of the President with the Antimonopoly Committee draft a law on the oligarch status.
The idea of such a draft law is generally good, but it's not going to work, according to the experts talked to.
