Turkey has become the most popular destination for foreign tourism of Ukrainians during the May holidays-2021. From May 1 to May 10, the share of tickets purchased to visit the country reaches 31% of all tickets purchased during the specified period.
The second popular destination is Georgia (8%), according to the study of the open data platform OpenDataBot that analyzed the data of the Aviasales.ua service for searching air tickets.
Montenegro, Cyprus, Egypt, the United Arab Emirates have been also included in the list of top foreign routes for the May holidays, but they lag behind in sales—each accounts for no more than 2-3% of purchased tickets.
The report says that an economy class round-trip flight to Georgia and Turkey cost Ukrainians an average of $200. To spend a vacation in these countries, citizens have allocated an average 7 days. On tickets to other top resorts, Ukrainians have spent from $220 (Montenegro) to $420 (UAE). Travel to these countries is planned for 8-9 days.
Domestic tourism in Ukraine during the May holidays
Popular routes for the May holidays in Ukraine are Kyiv (about $60), Odesa ($73), and Lviv ($123). Ukrainians spend their vaction in these cities for 4—5 days.
According to Ukrzaliznytsia, the most popular routes during the May holidays are:
- Lysychansk—Uzhgorod (1,184 passengers);
- Lviv—Bakhmut (1,055 passengers);
- Odesa—Kostiantynivka (1,041 passengers);
- Khmelnitskyi—Lysychansk (1,003 passengers);
- Odesa—Kovel (907 passengers).
Context. previously reported that Turkey had extended the requirement to provide a negative PCR test upon entry into the country until May 31.
