Losses of Ukrzaliznytsia from passenger traffic at the end of 2020 amounted to 8.7 billion UAH, increasing by 26%.
This was announced by the Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the company Volodymyr Zhmak at a press conference, reports the agency Interfax-Ukraine, adding that the passenger traffic last year decreased by 56%—to 68 million passengers.
"The passenger transport industry has been hit hardest by the quarantine restrictions due to the pandemic," he stated.
When will train tickets rise in price
As 
had previously reported, train ticket prices would rise by 2% monthly from March-April 2021.
According to the Minister of Infrastructure Vladyslav Kriklii, if you buy tickets in advance, you can get up to 40% discount.
Context. Last year, Ukrzaliznytsia announced that it planned to raise the cost of passenger transportation from March 1, 2021.
