Belarus announces deploying troops on border with Ukraine

The Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Belarus has begun deploying troops on the border with Ukraine as part of the second stage of inspecting the army's response forces.

This was stated by the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Belarus Viktor Gulevich, Belta reports.

"In order to ensure the security of the Republic of Belarus in the Southern direction, the forces of the special operations forces are deployed in three tactical directions," Viktor Gulevich, Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Belarus said.

According to him, the Armed Forces of Ukraine allegedly concentrated a grouping near the borders of the Republic of Belarus with a total number of up to 20,000 people.

"As part of the second stage of inspecting the immediate response forces, battalion-tactical groups have been moved to the Western and North-Western operational directions. To reinforce them, air defense, missile forces, and artillery units are being deployed. They will ensure their combat functioning," Gulevich said.

A sudden inspection of the response forces of the RB Armed Forces was announced in early May. Activities will include the redeployment of units and subunits to certain areas.

Recall that in the first stage of the war of the Russian Federation against Ukraine, the RB troops also participated in the occupation of the northern territories.
