Anton Lystopad, the highest-level fighter pilot, died while defending his country from invaders. In 2019, he was recognized as the best pilot in the Ukrainian Air Forces, as reported by the Physical and Technical Lyceum of the Ivano-Frankivsk Regional Council, where Anton studied.
Lystopad graduated from the lyceum in 2008 and entered the Ivan Kozhedub Kharkiv National University of the Air Force in 2013.
"After Anton obtained the necessary education, he became the highest-level fighter pilot. Millions of Ukrainians watched, excited and proud, the flight of the column of aircraft in the military parade over Khreschatyk on the 30th Ukraine’s Independence Day. This column was led by our Anton," the school wrote in its post.
Anton stood up to defend Ukraine on the first day of Russia's invasion. A few days before his death, he received the 3rd class Order of Courage from President Zelenskyy.
On September 17, Lystopad would have turned 31. He will be buried in his home city, Ivano-Frankivsk, on August 15.
