Zelenskyy wants to deploy international observers on the Ukrainian-Belarusian border

An international monitoring mission has to be deployed on the border between Ukraine and Belarus. President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy said this in his speech at the G7 emergency meeting.

According to the Ukrainian head of state, this will help lower the risk of provocations and direct participation of the republic in the war on Russia’s side.

Quote"Russia is trying to directly involve Belarus in this war, playing a provocation with allegations that we are preparing an attack on this country... Ukraine did not plan, and does not plan, any military action against Belarus. We are only interested in restoring our territorial integrity. But in order to completely remove this provocation, to remove these narratives voiced by Lukashenka, to remove even a suggestion of any threat allegedly coming from us, we offer our solution. A mission of international observers may be deployed on the border between Ukraine and Belarus to monitor the security situation," Zelenskyy said.

At the same time, he emphasized that the format of this mission should be developed in cooperation between Ukrainian diplomats and diplomats of the G7 member states.

Context. Earlier, the government of Belarus announced the arrival of thousands of Russian troops in the republic.
