Ukroboronprom reports losing giant aircraft Mriya as a result of Russian aggression

The Russian military destroyed the world's largest transport aircraft An-225 Mriya. As reported on the website of the state concern Ukroboronprom, this happened at the Antonov airfield in Hostomel near Kyiv, where the plane was stationed.

Its recovery will cost more than $3 billion and will require more than 5 years. Ukraine will make every effort to ensure that the aggressor state pays for these works. "Our task is to make sure that these costs are covered by the Russian Federation that caused deliberate damage to Ukrainian aviation and the air cargo sector," Ukroboronprom said in a statement.

By the time the Russian troops invaded, the Mriya was in the hangar for repairs at the Hostomel airport, so it did not have time to fly out of Ukraine.

According to the Flight Radar aircraft monitoring website, the An-225 Mriya aircraft with tail number UR-82060 arrived from Billund Airport in Denmark to Antonov Airport in Hostomel on February 5. After that, the plane did not leave it, Radio Svoboda reports.

At the same time, five Ukrainian cargo planes An-124-100 Ruslan are now outside of Ukraine.

Recall that on February 24 at 04:50 Russian President Vladimir Putin actually declared war on Ukraine, and Russian troops began to invade the territory of our country.
