According to current estimates, the number of victims in Ukraine from the Russian military offensive is 18 million people, of which 6.7 million are internally displaced persons. This is reported by the Regional Office for Europe of the World Health Organization (WHO), Interfax reports.
"WHO strongly condemns acts of violence against health care. Every single attack deprives people of vital services. Attacks on public health are a violation of international humanitarian law and human rights," the statement reads.
First of all, it is reported that about 3 million people left the country.
In addition, supply chains are seriously disrupted. A lot of distributors do not work, some reserves are unavailable due to military operations, stocks of medicines are running low and hospitals are having a hard time treating all the sick and injured.
WHO notes that it coordinates with partners the provision of humanitarian medical assistance both on the territory of Ukraine and on its borders, as well as the provision of technical support and a personnel reserve.
