The Ministry of Health is negotiating on purchasing vaccines from Pfizer and several other companies. If they agree for Ukraine to receive the vaccine, then it is most likely that it will appear in the state in April-May 2021.

This was stated by Serhiy Lytovka, the head of the expert group on immunization of the Ministry of Health, to The Page’s partner business weekly Persha Shpalta.

It should be noted that Ukraine will receive the first doses for free under the international COVAX program, and that will make it possible to vaccinate 4 million Ukrainians. According to Lytovka, the government allocated 2 billion hryvnias for purchasing other doses. But according to the senior economist of Ukraine Economic Outlook, Mykhailo Kukhar, $2 billion is needed to purchase vaccines for the entire population, and that exceeds the country's spending on medicine.

Lytovka added that only 47%—52% of Ukrainians are ready to be vaccinated against coronavirus if the vaccine is free of charge. However, if it has to be paid for, the readiness level drops to 35%. Kukhar predicts that in 2021 there will be an increase in demand for expensive vaccination services in Ukraine in order to regain freedom of movement around the world.

Quote"First of all, it is recommended to vaccinate healthcare workers, since they have the greatest contact with patients with coronavirus, military personnel, participants of Joint Forces Operation, social workers, as well as educators, the national police, the National Guard, and others," Lytovka added.
