Formulator of the vaccine against COVID-19 gave the timeframe for the world’s come back to "normal" life

Albert Bourla, CEO of the American pharmaceutical company Pfizer, predicted that the world would return to "pre-covid" life within a year. During an interview with ABC News, he added that this would likely require an annual revaccination against the coronavirus.

Quote"I think that within a year we will be able to come back to normal life," Burla said.

The head of the pharmaceutical company stressed that this does not mean that humanity can do without vaccinations against coronavirus and did not rule out the emergence of the new variants.

Quote"The most likely scenario for me is that new variants will continue to emerge as the virus spreads around the world. We will also have vaccines that will last for at least a year, and I think the most likely scenario would be annual vaccinations, but we really don't know. We need to wait and see the data," he said.

Burla's prediction is identical with that of Stephane Bancel, CEO of Moderna—another developer and manufacturer of the COVID-19 vaccine. In a recent interview with a Swiss newspaper, he noted that humanity will be able to return to normal life "in a year."

Additionally. On September 23, the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention approved the introduction of the so-called booster doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech coronavirus vaccine for people over 65, residents of geriatric nursing homes, and health care workers (aged 50 to 64) who are at risk from health problems. Now 60 million Americans have the opportunity to receive additional vaccinations.

Pfizer sells vaccines at different prices to countries with different wealth status. According to Bourla, developing countries buy vaccines at prime cost from Pfizer. He also noted that the manufacturer sells one billion doses of the vaccine to the US government at prime cost, and after that the US government gives these doses of vaccine "completely free of charge to the world's poorest countries."

Context. Denmark was the first country in Europe to return to the "pre-covid" life.
