The United States, as part of an $800 million military aid package to Ukraine, will send 200 M113 armored personnel carriers, 11 Mi-17 helicopters, 300 Switchblade kamikaze drones and other weapons to Kyiv. At a briefing, Pentagon Pentagon Press Secretary John Kirby showed reporters a list of weapons that the United States will hand over to Ukraine.
"Some of this assistance is additional batches of already supplied weapons, the other part is new weapons that were not previously provided to Ukraine," he said.
The list of provided weapons and military hardware includes:
- 18 155-mm Howitzers and 40,000 artillery rounds for them;
- 10 AN/TPQ-36 counter-battery radar systems;
- 2 AN/MPQ-64 Sentinel air surveillance radar systems;
- 100 Humvee armored vehicles;
- 200 M113 armored personnel carriers;
- 11 Mi-17 helicopters. Previously, five such helicopters have already been sent to Ukraine;
- 300 Switchblade drones;
- 500 missiles for Javelin anti-tank systems;
- unmanned boats to defend the coast;
- equipment for protection against nuclear, chemical and biological threats;
- 30,000 body armor and helmets;
- 2,000 pieces of optical devices and laser rangefinders;
- explosive C-4;
- mines M18A1 Claymore.
If necessary, the Pentagon will train Ukrainian instructors who will then be able to teach soldiers how to handle new weapons.
The Mi-17 helicopters are the export version of the Mi-8s.
