Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison has said that his country will send Bushmaster armored vehicles to Ukraine. The day before, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy mentioned this military harware during a video address to Australian lawmakers, The Guardian reported.
Morrison told reporters the vehicles will be flown over on Boeing C-17 Globemaster transport planes. However, he didn’t specify how many would be sent or when.
"We’re not just sending our prayers, we are sending our guns, we’re sending our munitions, we’re sending our humanitarian aid, we’re sending all of this, our body armor, all of these things and we’re going to be sending our armored vehicles, our Bushmasters, as well," Morrison said.
The Bushmaster is a wheeled, all-wheel drive armored personnel carrier manufactured in Australia. It is designed for use in desert areas, it can carry nine soldiers with a three-day food and ammunition supply. It is protected from 7.62 mm bullets, an 8 kg landmine explosion, and shell fragments.
