On the night of October 17, 2023, the Armed Forces of Ukraine made successful strikes on helicopters and airfield equipment of Russian occupation forces near temporarily occupied Luhansk and Berdiansk.
The Strategic Communications Directorate of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported this on social media.
"Glory to the Armed Forces of Ukraine!" the message says.
In addition, Russian forces in occupied Crimea were attacked by drones on the night of October 17, according to Sergey Aksionov, head of the occupation administration.
He claimed that eight drones had been "suppressed" by electronic warfare equipment and shot down by the invaders while approaching the peninsula.
During the last month alone, Ukraine conducted a number of operations in Crimea and made many successful strikes. There are frequent air raid alerts due to drone attacks, Russian authorities often block the Kerch bridge, and local Telegram channels report explosions.
[Updated: 7:04 p.m.] Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyi confirmed that the Ukrainian forces struck the Luhansk and Berdiansk airfields with U.S.-supplied ATACMS missiles:
"I thank everyone who fights and works for Ukraine! I thank everyone who helps! And today, special gratitude goes to the United States. Our agreements with President Biden are being implemented. And the implementation hits the spot, as ATACMS have shown themselves," Zelenskyi noted.
