During the lightning counteroffensive of the Ukrainian army in the Kharkiv region, the Russians suffered much greater losses, although they were defending and thus had a more favorable situation. According to the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council, Oleksii Danilov, the losses of the invaders exceed nine or ten times those of Ukraine.
"That is, for each of our killed warriors, there are 9 or 10 dead Russians who invaded our land. This is a very interesting rate since, according to the rules of war, during an offensive you lose more than during defense," he said on the air of the 24th Channel.
Danilov emphasized that there are not many European countries that could do what the Ukrainian army did.
The secretary also responded to the statement of President Joe Biden, who said that it was hard to tell whether the war was at a turning point. He reaffirmed that Ukraine had done it as early as in the period between February 24 and March 20. Back then, it became obvious that Putin’s invaders had been advancing very slowly.
He especially warned the Ukrainians against premature euphoria after the success of the Ukrainian army in the Kharkiv Region. Danilov reminded that the enemy has a vast territory and numerous weapon depots. He stressed that there’s much work to be done until the last Russian soldier leaves Ukrainian land.
Context. According to the latest update from the Ministry of Defense, since September 6, the Ukrainian military has liberated 8,500 square kilometers of the Kharkiv Region, approximately 388 populated places, and 150,000 people.
