The International Bank for Reconstruction and Development will allocate a $150 million loan to Ukraine for additional financing of the Ukraine Emergency COVID-19 Response and Vaccination Project. This is reported on the website of the Ministry of Finance.
The additional financing is planned to be allocated to the already existing project signed on May 17, 2021. According to this project, the loan amount is $90 million.
The loanable funds will be used to strengthen the public health system and support the urgent response to the COVID-19 pandemic through: procuring COVID-19 vaccines and logistics services and vaccination campaigns; purchasing facilities of the cold chain and logistics infrastructure; providing training for medical personnel and improving medical waste management and disposal systems.
It is also planned to purchase and install autoclaves and other disinfection and waste disposal devices equipment; to develop information systems and purchase IT equipment for vaccination management, as well as other urgent measures to counter the spread of COVID-19 in Ukraine.
