Russia is preparing 200,000 fresh troops and will have another go at Kyiv, says General Zaluzhnyi

Russia is building up people and weapons for a new offensive. It can start a large-scale assault from Donbas, from the south of Ukraine, or even from Belarus as early as in January, but more probably in the spring. Valerii Zaluzhnyi, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, said this in an interview with The Economist.

According to him, the Russian troops will try to push the Ukrainian forces back and can even make a second attempt to take Kyiv.

Quote"The Russians are preparing some 200,000 fresh troops. I have no doubt they will have another go at Kyiv," he said.

Western sources report that General Surovikin, the commander of the Russian troops, has always considered the conflict with Ukraine to last for years.

Mr. Zaluzhnyi, as well as President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and General Oleksandr Syrsky, commander of Ukraine’s land forces, warned that the few months to come would be critical. General Zaluzhnyi added that he believed the Russians to be preparing new resources and ammunition somewhere beyond the Urals, just as they did during the Second World War. However, even if they enlist a million more people in the army, it will not bring the desired result anyway.
