Ukraine lost five points in the list of the best countries to establish a startup in 2020 and dropped from 29th to 34th place in the annual ranking Global Startup Ecosystem 2021 from StartupBlink.

This year, six Ukrainian cities were included in the world ranking of the thousand best cities for a startup: Kyiv, Lviv, Kharkiv, Odesa, Ternopil, Dnipro.

Kyiv still ranks first in the list of Ukrainian cities. But in the world ranking, the Ukrainian capital lost 16 points at once, ranking 48th in the top 50 leaders. Kyiv is the best place for software development and data processing, as well as marketing and sales.

Lviv became the record holder for taking off. It won back 99 positions and ranked 255th. But the rest of the cities showed a loss of positions. Odesa dropped from 356th to 394th place (-38 positions), Kharkiv—from 431th to 513th (-72), Ternopil—from 724th to 787th (-63), Dnipro—from 803 to 883 (-80 ).

The authors of the rating named the talents of developers that are in great demand by many foreign companies remotely or in local R&D centers as the main reason for Ukraine's success in the start-up market. Such people often make up their mind to create their own startup, even despite the fact that living standards in the country are low, and the salaries of IT specialists are very high against this background, StartupBlink explains.

Context. Own startup is a long, arduous and laborious process. One of the main goals in the course of its implementation is to find a source of funding. The Page wrote about how to look for an investor who is ready to invest in a startup and where to apply for investments.
