During the U.S.-Ukraine Defense Industrial Base Conference in Washington, Ukraine and the United States agreed on co-production of weapons and technical data exchange.
The press services of Ukraine’s Office of the President, the White House, and the Pentagon reported about the agreement.
Thus, the Ministry of Defense and the Ministry for Strategic Industries of Ukraine signed a Memorandum of Cooperation with the U.S. Department of Defense.
The Memorandum defines localization of the defense industry in Ukraine as one of the main priorities.
According to the document, Ukraine is to receive the necessary capabilities for battlefield success in the near future, and the United States will contribute to its economic recovery and strengthening of its defense capabilities in the long run.
The U.S. side emphasizes that the main focus will be on building production facilities in our country to supply Ukrainian forces with necessary weapons, including air defense systems and crucial ammunition, as well as repair and maintenance.
The White House announced the provision of technical data for Ukraine to produce hybrid air defense systems as part of the FrankenSAM program. The project seeks to refurbish Ukraine’s legacy air defense systems through the use of advanced technologies and Western munitions.
What is known about the hybrid air defense systems
In October, it was reported that Ukraine and the United States had jointly created hybrid air defense systems. The program was dubbed FrankenSAM.
At a Defense Industry Forum held in Ukraine recently, representatives of more than 60 companies from 23 countries declared their intention to produce weapons with Ukraine. President Volodymyr Zelenskyi called for even stronger cooperation at the Defense Industrial Base Conference in Washington.
earlier reported that Ukraine had started serial production of a new kamikaze drone. Ukrainian forces have already purchased the drone for their operations.
