Three soldiers taken prisoner by Russia and moved to Hungary returned to Ukraine, says Oleh Nikolenko, a spokesperson for Ukraine’s foreign ministry.
"Ukrainian diplomats, in cooperation with the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War and other involved Ukrainian agencies, continue to take active measures to bring home the rest of the Ukrainian defenders moved from Russia to Hungary," he wrote.
As we have reported earlier, Hungary, which has close political ties with Russia, stated on June 9 that it accepted a group of 11 Ukrainian prisoners of war. On June 19, 2023, Ukraine stated that Hungary ignored requests for contact with the prisoners of war that had been secretly transferred from Russia.
