The ports of South Louisiana and New Orleans to help restore Ukraine's maritime infrastructure

The Administration of Seaports of Ukraine signed a memorandum with the ports of South Louisiana and New Orleans. They will help in the development of seaports in Ukraine. The news was announced by the Center for Transport Strategies.

On behalf of the U.S., the agreement was signed by PortSL CEO Paul Matthews. Ukraine was represented by Consul General Vitalii Taraiyuk.

The memorandum certifies the intentions of the parties to cooperate in the areas of planning, development, construction, administration, and operation and maintenance of port infrastructure.

The memorandum lays the groundwork for cooperation with the Odesa Seaport (Odesa Branch of the State Enterprise Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority).

Quote"As two of the world’s leading grain exporters, the farmers and workers of the United States and Ukraine are tough and take pride in their role in feeding the world. This agreement solidifies Port of South Louisiana’s support for the Ukrainian people in the defense of their freedom and creates an alliance with our Ukrainian port partners that focuses

on our shared mission of serving global customers and creating economic prosperity for our communities," said Paul Matthews, CEO of PortSL.

As we reported earlier, by August 29, the Russians had destroyed about 270,000 tons of grain in the Odesa port and in the Danube seaports.
