US President Joe Biden has extended the US sanctions against Russia that were imposed in 2014 over Ukraine, for another year.
As the agency Interfax-Ukraine writes, this is stated in the document that was published in the Federal Register.
It notes that the situation around Ukraine is still a serious threat to the national security and foreign policy of the United States.
"For this reason, the emergency regime introduced on March 6, 2014, as well as the measures taken... in response to the crisis, must remain in effect after March 6, 2021," the document says.
The first sanctions were imposed back in 2014—they came into force on March 6, in the same year they were extended three more times. They are extended annually for 12 months.
Context. Earlier, The Page reported that the Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation is trying to circumvent Western sanctions to attract investment in Crimea. Russia plans to amend the legislation, and due to them investors from other regions of Russia will receive anonymity.
