The Russians mined the cooler of the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant, Kyrylo Budanov, chief of Ukrainian Defense Intelligence, says on the air of the national telethon.
"The Zaporizhzhia NPP was additionally mined. And the worst thing is that the cooler was mined. If they put it out of action by blowing it up, there is a high probability that there will be significant problems," he stressed.
The Defense Intelligence chief confirmed that the enemy unit deployed near the Kakhovka HPP wasn’t aware of the invaders’ plans to blow up the dam. Only half an hour before the act of terrorism, this unit was ordered to quickly withdraw, and after that, a special operations team entered the site.
At the same time, according to Budanov, there’s no doubt that the dam was blown up by the Russians. This can be corroborated by a number of facts possessed by Defense Intelligence that are still classified.
Earlier, the International Atomic Energy Agency claimed that the destruction of the Kakhovka HPP by the invaders caused a "serious situation" at the Zaporizhzhia NPP. However, according to IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi, the situation is being stabilized.
