The Ministry of Health registered the first coronavirus vaccine. This is a medication developed by AstraZeneca. It will arrive in Ukraine on February 23rd.

However, Ukraine purchased the vaccine from the Indian Serum Institute that manufactures the medication Covishield under the license of AstraZeneca. This was reported on the official Telegram channel of the Ministry of Health.

The Ministry of Health also noted that Covishield is officially registered in Ukraine. In addition, the AstraZeneca vaccine has been recommended by the WHO for emergency use. In particular, it has received approval for use in the UK, EU, and India.

In the Q1-Q2 of 2021, Ukraine will receive from 2.2 to 3.7 million doses of this vaccine. It will be purchased for public funds directly from manufacturers.

Context. Ukraine received confirmation of the supply of 12 million doses of vaccines from AstraZeneca and Novavax under an agreement with the Indian manufacturer Serum Institute.
