The United States is close to approving the transfer of ATACMS long-range missiles to Ukraine. The decision must be agreed upon at the highest level. The U.S. officials disclosed the information to The Wall Street Journal.
The White House concluded that the Armed Forces of Ukraine will need decisive help with weapons for the counteroffensive in the coming weeks.
For months, Ukraine has been urging its partners to give it ATACMS surface-to-surface missiles with a range of 300 km. They are necessary to reclaim temporarily occupied territories. However, international partners have been reluctant to arm Ukraine with this weapon, fearing that the AFU will use it to attack Russian territory.
